    Jason Molina dies...

I always liked his particular brand of melancholy.

The music and video take me back in time. Who doesn't love a Demolition Derby?

This news bummed me out yesterday. I remember reading that he was taking donations for hospital bills but I had no idea it was part of a larger battle he was waging with alcohol addiction. The first Magnola Electric Co album is still a favorite of mine.

I was trying to figure out who the 4th Molina brother was and who he played for.

I thought the same. Or maybe it was one the Molina's sons.

Jason Molina and his bands Songs: Ohia and Magnolia Electric Co. are great sad Americana music for the open road. You should download a record and try it out in the field.

The Avett Brothers, being friends with Jason, covered his song, Hammer Down, as a tribute to him.

The original is a very sad, beautiful song.
