The dawn of Yorman Rodriguez?

I can't believe there are some people who think Yorman has any legit trade value. Why would a team have any interest in an OF with an OPS of .678 at AA? Especially one with an alleged attitude problem at times.

I'll be surprised if Yorman ever makes it in MLB. Extremely surprised.

Would be ironic if the four big international signings of 2008 achieved success exactly inversely proportional to their signing bonuses:

Junior Arias
Ismael Guillon
Juan Duran
Yorman Rodriguez

Although as of right now, Yorman is probably still the best prospect of the four. That could change quickly if Arias hits in Bakersfield in the second half. Duran continues to look like a bust, although admittedly he is still young.

Well start believing. Scouts like him. He is 20 and in AA with outstanding tools. No trade value? It shocks me that someone who has been around long enough thinks he would have no trade value or that a guy on the 40-man roster at 20 years old would be an extreme surprise to make it in the Majors.

If we are strictly talking about trade potential, I would put him behind Stephenson, Hamilton and Winker for sure.

After those three? I don't know that I would put anyone else ahead of him. It certainly depends on what the other team is looking for. A team looking for pitching may put Travieso and Garrett ahead of him as raw arms but with tons of upside.

Agree with this. If Ervin were eligible to be traded, he'd probably go before Yorman as well. After that it's pretty wide open.

Power will show up, remember he's only 20, will be 21 next month.. Most guys don't start to really add muscle until 23 to 25... Right now I would love for him to hit .275 the rest of the way with a 1:1 strikeout to walk ratio.

1:1 BB/K ratio is elite. I think that's too much to ask. Yorman has already shown very encouraging improvement in this department this year. Will be interesting to see if they deal him, now that he likely has established decent value. (I'm hoping they do not.)

I'm going to go ahead and assume that 1:1 strikeout to walk ratio was a typo, because not even the most optimistic of Pollyanna's can believe that is going to happen.

I'd settle for him maintaining a 3:1 ratio, would be quite pleased if he could get it down to 2.5:1, and absolutely thrilled he could make it 2:1. Expecting anything more than that is lunacy.

That speculation has been around since the day he signed. 5 years later and nothing has been found. I saw him when he was 16. He looked every bit of 16. A big 16, but 16. Of course, I looked 16 when I was 20, so that doesn't mean much.

End of the day though, MLB gave the ok on his age and nothing has come out suggesting otherwise since.
