Should they trade Hamilton for major league ready help?

    Discuss.
What do the Reds need for this season that Hamilton could bring?

A rotation arm would be nice, but not necessary. Any improvement the Reds make right now would be subject to the law of diminishing returns.

If you can bring in someone who is better than Leak, and who is under team control for a few more years, I'd call that more than "nice".

He did have an awfully pretty swing when he was piling up all those k's.

I'd argue that that improvement wouldn't be much more than the possible improvement Hamilton could bring later in the season, if he's called up.

Maybe getting a different fifth starter results in you changing your prediction back to a Reds 14 game lead at season ends

I added what's in parenthesis. It just sounded better that way.

Does the brain trust resist the temptation to make Hamilton the fifth outfielder when Choo goes to the DL?

Why can't a team be built to win now AND build for the future at the same time? Comparing utilizing Hamilton in a trade to win now and using Chappy in the 'pen to win now is misguided.

I don't think the organization is doing things in order to sabotage the season as part of some conspiracy. I do believe they're trying to give the team the best chance to win now and I have to assume they think Chappy in the bullpen does that versus Chappy in the rotation.

56 PA, 15K, 2BB. Same dude he has always been. Lots of strikeouts, no walks, swings at everything, better not make a mistake over the plate against him.

How is that different? Trade target via Hamilton gives us a better chance to win now than Hamilton.

I am no way saying to trade Hamilton for a spare part. I'm saying trade him for something that helps now and in the future.

Pecota has him pegged (and I think it's generous) .256/.290/.453

We could trade him for himself.
