Where have you gone, Juan Duran? I am heading north of the border with this pick. Brandon Dailey.

Yeah, but are you voting for him as a second baseman or a catcher?

They reverse Biggio'd him? Actually that might be good for him. The Reds don't have much catching depth in their system, do they?

By the way, that looks like a pretty strong rotation they could possibly have in Dayton this season.

Agreed. Definitely the most upside, if money invested says anything. A mid-90's fastball and a good slider out of a prep arm is definitely worth taking note of.

Glad to have some company in the Juan Perez parade. The way I see it, he's shown some speed (24 steals at Dayton last year, along with 8 triples), a little power (9 HR at Dayton, along with the triples), can get on base (.353 in his two seasons), and has so far stuck at shortstop, although I don't expect that to last. He had a very strong second half last year. He's 21 and will presumably start this season at Bakersfield.

Devin Lohman is a much higher rated prospect than this.

I didn't think much of Ravin as a SP prospect, but at #38, I can get behind a guy out of the pen that can kiss triple digits. Organizationally top to bottom I like our pitching instructors. I think it'd be easier to teach a guy to harness command over a short relief outing since the approach is so much different.
I may not be fast, but I sure am slow.

I went with Phipps. He may not have a ton of realistically likely to be achieved upside but he has a chance to be on a big league club at some point soon as a backup and I will take that at 38..

I don't know how true that is. BA had him at 25. Sickels had him unlisted among the top 20 and the "others" which stretched 20 more. I ranked him 34th in my book.

Obviously, BA is highest on him, but I think if you asked JJ Cooper to make an argument for the guy he had at 38, whoever that happened to be, and Lohman, it would be awfully close.

The Reds have a whole lot of guys, depending on how you want to favor different aspects (tools, production, position scarcity), that can be really, really bunched up as a group. That 20-45 range in my opinion is like that. There really isn't much separating them.

When I look at Lohman's pedigree, his high draft status, his performance, and BA's repeated favorable inclusion of him on their various lists, I think at this point he is probably being underrated.

Look, I myself haven't voted for him consistently, maybe it's hyperbole on my part to say he's much better than this. My overall impression is just that he's better than many of us give him credit for around here.

It's interesting because RedsZone tends to underrate middle infielders who are not primarily offensive talents. Cozart as a minor leaguer was IMO not sufficiently appreciated around here. Janish was left off the list entirely one year, as I recall. Both now solid major leaguers, although far from perfect players.

But people should vote for whomever they want. I guess I was just expressing support for this particular player.

    Vincej.

SS who hits and is willing to get on base via other means (BB and HBP). K rate isn't bad (14%) and power looks kind of promising. If he can stick at SS (and all reports are that he should be able to do just that), he could move fast. He is a bit behind the age curve and likely needs to be challenged. A move through Dayton to Bakersfield this season may be in the works this year.
