Now that may be a little harsh but I would much rather listen to the national guys who are climbing up the ladder than the ones who have risen to the top. Once they get to the top they get stale and aren't replaced quick enough. The two top dogs that I am ok listening to are Michales and Costas.
That commercial where he struts across the rental car lot....seriously, somebody likes themselves a bit.

The problem with McCarver is that he isn't as smart as he thinks he is.

You mean I can actually watch a game without turning the volume all the way down? Wow! I have to wait a year though.
It's absolutely pathetic that people can't have an opinion from actually watching games and supplementing that with stats. If you voice an opinion that doesn't fit into a black/white box you will get completely misrepresented and basically called a tobacco chewing traditionalist...

I could respond with a litany of terrible McCarver quotes, but this will suffice:

No, Joe Buck is intolerable all by his lonesome. I could deal with McCarver. There was no filter between his brain and mouth, but he was an all right sort of fellow. Buck combines a keen lack of instinct for the game with an unshakable belief in his own infallibility.

Hopefully they pair Buck with Artie Shaw.

More of a Hawk Harrelson guy are you?

Maybe Joe Simpson and Chip from the Braves......and their constant whining about anything that does not go the Braves way? Like blaming GABP for the Braves losing there last year.

I wonder if Deion will speak at his retirement party?

Exactly. McCarver is one of the most condecending anouncers in the business. To me, he is always talking down to his audience and gives the impression that he knows more than you and makes sure you know that. Buck is just an arrogant jerk. I never liked him and when he proclaimed a few years ago that he really didn't like baseball I lost all respect for him. Why MLB keeps letting him come back to the games is beyond me.
If FOX could somehow get Costas and Smoltz to do games I might watch some of their Satuday games. They would be the best duo out there to do national games,IMO.
