    April Record?

The month of April looks brutal!

    Angels
    Nats (2)
    Cards (2)
    Phillies
    Cubs
    Pirates
    Marlins

And for whatever reason, both Cards series are in STL.

What will the record be going into May?

The Reds will lose their first 59 games, then go on a 103 game win streak.

    it will be GLORIOUS!

I think they will actually be doing pretty well to be a game or two over .500 when we hit May.

28 games in April; The Reds will struggle offensively and will only win 11 or 12 games in April.

Highly unlikely, even if this team struggles they will still win 15 games.

    Re: April Record?

I think a lot of people are irritated with the offensive showing yesterday coupled with the extended loss of our cleanup hitter. Don't allow yourself to fall victim to that trap. Make no mistake, this is a great roster with or without Ludwick (albeit better with), and all will be well. I don't expect them to be 10 games over by the end of the month, but I'd bet a good deal of money on them being over .500 in a worst case scenario.

Plus the Phillies don't scare me. Not even a little bit.

Add Cubs, Pirates and Marlins to that list as well for me.

Pitching is too good to have much of a slump. May hover around .500, but I don't expect the arms to let them be too bad.

13-15. And, considering the competition, that ain't half bad.

Mathematically that is more than half bad

    Re: April Record?

I suspect they'll be within a couple games of .500 either way, though they could be as much as five games below.

It all evens out in the end-- baseball is a marathon, and the Reds happen to have a tough hill when the gun goes off.

While that's frustrating, the teeth gnashing on the internet may hit a fever pitch by the Kentucky Derby.

I subscribe to this theory. The Reds rotation is simply too good to lose games in bunches, and the pen might be the best in baseball. They will win many games and contend for a World Series title because of stellar pitching. Personally, I think the Reds have plenty of offensive firepower, but they'll also win games when they struggle to score, a la the 2000 Baltimore Ravens.

But I don't think we'll be able to force as many turnovers as the Ravens did.

Seriously though, I agree. Our pitching will take us home this year, even if our offence has some struggles at times.

Does the fact that the Reds took 2 of 3 from the Angels change your mind about what their April record might be?
