I talked to Walt Jocketty, he said still deciding between "2 or 3 guys" for the roster spot. No decision has been made.

Jocketty also said there's no consideration to moving Choo to left field

Right now probably wouldn't make much sense. But, I'm hoping he tears it up in AAA and forces the issue sometime down the road closer to June / July.

It's all on Billy, though, as I doubt Heisey will do anything to put a claim on the spot for himself.

I'm still predicting 100+ wins and double digit lead in the Central.

If the choice is Heisey, why wouldn't you put him in center and have Choo play his more natural corner position?

Really looking forward to seeing young Billy myself (for the first time) next week. What are the odds he can bulk up (legally) and develop a serious bat? Feels like half a Bryce Harper in some respects though faster.

Rotten luck for Ludwick after resurrecting his career last year. At least he got a nice payday out of it.

Because, ideally, you'll want Choo to stay comfortable in CF so you can go get an upgrade for LF as the deadline gets closer and teams drop out of contention.

Much easier to find that than a new CF.

I don't think they're going to trade for another OFer with Ludwick under contract next year and Hamilton, at most, a year away. I'd move Choo to LF, play Heisey (or Hamilton) in CF, and try to sign Choo to a LTC.

The only reason NOT to move Choo to LF is if you plan on re-signing Rolen.

Re: Ludwick to 15 day DL

    It's a Labrum tear, apparently.

Sucks for Ludwick -- but, as someone did note, he scored himself a payday before this happened, at least.

I have the same optimism/confidence you do about the year ahead--but some concern feels realistic. Wish they had picked up an affordable/good-value mid career type on the market when they had the chance. But, yeah, we've got what we've got. Will be an interesting ride to be sure.
Yes. So, true. Mild concern is more accurate. I'm more concerned about what dropff we'll get from Phillips this year than my concern over what we'll get out of LF. I'm looking forward to the improved Defense, especially with the assistance Heisey will give to Choo in covering LeftCenter.

Makes sense. But seeing Choo flail after that ball from Bourjos yesterday makes me worried. And really, it was Heisey who saved the inside-the-park homerun when he backed up that play...
