I think he's better against RHP than Heisey, isn't he?

No, he isn't. .233/.316/.355 for his career. Heisey is at .275/.331/.460

    Bobby Abreu anyone?
    Johnny Damon?
    Grady Sizemore?

I have read most of this thread and I didn't see anything posted about how the MRI results came out. Has anything come out? Estimated time table for his return?

I trust Ludwick's arm in its current state more than I trust Damon's.

According to MLBTR updated list, here are the unsigned free agent outfielders:

    Abreu
    Damon
    Figgins
    Bill Hall
    Scott Podsednik
    Juan Rivera
    Ryan Sweeney

He's not a better option than Heisey. Or really anyone.

For career numbers, yes, but for the most recent season, the numbers are not so skewed:

    2012 vs RHP
    Heisey: .262/.314/.365
    Hannahan: .270/.331/.381

I think the big argument against Hannahan filling in much is that it would require a move of Frazier to LF at a time when he needs positional stability so he can focus on and develop his hitting.

Sizemore isn't healthy and probably won't be until mid-season. I think Damon and Abreau are both cooked, and I don't know that Hall or Rivera offer much more than what Heisey already brings.

I might bring Posednik in for a look, though.

Re: Ludwick injury - dislocated shoulder

As we all know, Heisey's career numbers are skewed by his excellence as a backup. He gets exposed when he plays every day. Meanwhile, Hannahan is a terrific fielder at 3B and bats left-handed. His career batting numbers are somewhat dragged down by spending his career in pitchers parks, while Heisey has been in Cincinnati. I'd like to see Hannahan get a good chunk of the playing time at the very least when a groundball pitcher like Cueto is starting...

As far as I know, there's been no update.

Surely the MRI would have been conducted by this point in the day.

Not sure if no news yet is a good omen or bad.

Re: Ludwick injury - dislocated shoulder

@Reds: Ludwick to have surgery tomorrow to repair torn cartilage in his right shoulder. Reds to make corresponding roster before tomorrow's game.

    This can't be good.

Just saw that. Any doctors in the house? What does that mean as far as timetable for return?
