So thanks to everybody who offered up great tips to my 7 year old daughter and me for our trip in from Atlanta for opening day...we did the Great Wolf Lodge for a couple says, then came in for the festivities....parade, game, hall of fame, the whole bit. 10 degrees warmer and one clutch hit woulda made it perfect, but it was still an A+++ ESPECIALLY IN LIGHT OF THIS:
We went up without tix. I was fully prepared to go 100 each (crazy as my 7 year old doesnt know much about baseball, just that daddy loves the Reds and she gets a bunch of junk to eat and can scream all she wants). I worked stubhub and Craigslist all day Monday but hadnt bought yet as we headed over to the stadium after the parade. I of course had the obligatory 2fingers up in the air, and talked to a few scalpers to see what was the going rate, still insanely hight 2 hours before first pitch.....so my little girl says "can I do that too?(Hold up the two fingers). Sure baby....10 minutes later, a nice old guy comes up and says "are you looking for tickets?" "Yep...whatcha got." He has 2 in Section 116, low row (RIGHT over third base). I silently pray they're not TOO BAD, vow that I'll pay 150 each for em, and hope the Mrs doesnt kill me....then he says, "they're yours. My grandson and his friend can't come." Handed me the tickets, shook my hand, and refused anypayment at all, except for a beer inside....He had the seats next to us, bought him the beer in gratitude, then enjoyed the game. It MADE the trip...magical moment I'll never forget. TOP THAT!!!
