I think that in a year or two, one of these guys - Frazier, Dorn, Valaika, Cumberland, Stubbs - will be ready to replace Dunn. They won't hit as many home runs as Dunn, but they should have similar OPS. - 757690, July 22, 2008
Alonso will be playing 1B for the REDS and batting 4th one year from today. - Kingspoint, July 9, 2009
Its a message board, don't ever take anything too seriously.
Sometimes the thread is short, sometimes it is long.

Shirley, you can't be serious!
Our wild card Magic Number is 162.

(Ask the 84 Tigers or 90 Reds if a playoff spot can be won in April)
* Attended the 1990 and 2010 Reds Division clinchers *
Go 76ers, Go Steelers and Go Bucks
160
Let this number keep on shrinking!!!
What if this is as good as it gets?
Pending the outcome of the Cardinals game, the Reds magic number stands at 135. Normally I would only update this when they are in first but it seems like a little frivolity is needed these days.
If my calculations are correct the Reds highest magic number to clinch the division is 77 and to clinch the wild card it is 67. Hope that brings some levity to your day. Cardinals divisional magic number is 72 with 67 to eliminate the Reds.
With 53 games left for the Reds, their Wild Card magic number is 50. (60 for the division)

Last year the A's had a magic number of 45 on 8/23 to take the AL West. They had a little over a month to take it.
We have 2 months to take ours at 60. Added that we ill hopefully get sparks from the returns of Ludwick, Broxton, and possibly Hanigan and the Pirates known issues for crashing in August and September on top of Cards injuries piling up.......I like our chances!
