Does dynamic pricing fluctuate after the season begins? In other words, do they raise the price from the original posted prices if they think it's a big series that might have more interest?

Yes. That is exactly how it works. Prices go up when they think demand is there and go down when they think demand isn't.

Yes. Here is the FAQ from reds.com

    Q: What is dynamic pricing?
A: The act of changing the price of a specific seating section for a specific game over time. This does not necessarily mean that every section of every game will be affected.
Q: How are ticket price changes decided?
A: Adjustments will be made based on multiple factors such as day of week, month, team performance, visiting team performance, weather forecast, etc.

Q: Which tickets will be subject to dynamic pricing?
A: All Reds single game tickets at Great American Ball Park may be priced in this manner.

Q: Will this affect season ticket holders prices?
A: No. This only applies to single game tickets. As always, being a Reds season ticket holder guarantees fans they will pay the lowest price for their select seat.

Q: How do I know I'm getting the best price for my tickets?
A: The best price will continue to be through season ticket plans. For single game tickets, fans are encouraged to plan ahead and buy early for the best prices. Ticket prices will typically be at their lowest in advance and gradually increase as the game day approaches.

Q: Does dynamic pricing change the way I buy single game tickets?
A: No. Fans will still be able to buy their tickets the same way they have in the past online at Reds.com, the Great American Ball Park Box Office, select Kroger locations and over the phone (513) 381-REDS.

Q: How do I know how much my ticket will cost?
A: Fans will always have the most up-to-date pricing for tickets online at Reds.com, the Great American Ball Park Box Office, select Kroger locations and over the phone (513) 381-REDS. All ticket outlets will have the same ticket pricing.

    Q. What happens if prices lower after I buy my tickets?
A: As always, all sales are final. Typically as the game gets closer, ticket prices will increase.

Q: Will this change other promotions?
A: Popular season-long ticket offers such as Sunday Family Days, Senior Citizen Specials and 4 for $48 Weekend deals will continue in 2013. The Reds will continue to work with partners to offer great ticket deals to fans. You can view the latest promotions at Reds.com.

Unbelievable. So if I call the ticket office, I really don't have any idea how much the tickets are until I talk to them. The price guide is basically worthless.

    I really don't like that.

It's not fan friendly, but that probably helps them maximize profit. Blame the free market, I guess?

It certainly isn't fan friendly, especially to those of us who followed them through all the lean years. Talk about sticker shock for some of those games!

I just went to the ticket site at reds.com, and that has to be one of the most user unfriendly way of doing things that I've seen. You scroll through seven games at a time, but they aren't necessarily in the same week. There's no calendar to look at, and the huge table of prices is like trying to read a train schedule. I would guess an actuary came up with this.

Of course, this is likely here to stay. It isn't ever going to go back to the way it used to be. Maybe the Ticket Department's new slogan should be "BOHICA".

Just go to the schedule and access the tickets there:

    http://cincinnati.reds.mlb.com/sched...lendar=DEFAULT

BTW the ticket page will only list the home games - Sunday is the last game of the present home stand - then it's to Chicago for 4 games. The team is back in town Friday, June 14 with Milwaukee. So the games that you see are the 3 games with St. Louis (ending on the 9th) then the next three games are with Milwaukee (starting on the 14th).

Wow, thought you were kidding, but the moondeck seats are $49.15 including fees for tomorrow, $37 for Sunday and $28 for Tuesday. I was surprised how high the tickets seemed to be priced for the weekday series against the Pirates. Sat's game looks to be almost a sellout and Sunday is close as well.

In the Reds case, might as well rack up the registers for the big weekend series games with the out of towners. Forcing more advanced ticket sales and planning and more locals to consider more cost efficient weeknight games.

Or there is a near sellout or a bobblehead night. I tried last month to get just one ticket for Latos bobblehead this past Wednesday - all of the bleachers and the $5 tickets were gone - so all of the other prices went up. Needless to say I decided I didn't need another bobblehead.

Tomorrow night's game only has 4 sections were there are more than single seats available. Bleachers, $5 upper level and a few sections are already sold out.

BTW I'm not defending this policy but I can see why the Reds went with it - very much like charging more for opening day and premium series it was bound to happen.

How do you have a sellout with 38,874 as the attendance in the box score...

Well, my upper view level ticket is $19 for the Cardinal series and $14 for the Brewers. I have only the weekend season ticket package. If you look at the pro-rated full season ticket prices for the moon deck for the remaining 54 home games the average price is $24.

I believe once you reach a point where you can't buy seats next to each other, it is a sell out.

They mentioned sellout a few times on the MLB TV broadcast a few times tonight. I've noticed the Reds have sellouts and the crowds seem to vary between high 38K and low 42s. Doesn't seem to make a lot of sense unless some comped tickets are the reason.
