Jay Bruce is on pace to hit 54 triples.

Chapman's 54 wins and 54 saves will be quite a season to remember too.

The Reds have a winning percentage over .600 and a run differential of 0. Pythagoras weeps.

    Cozart: .000
    Bruce: .077
    Votto: .100

And yet we've had like 5 threads on Jay Bruce. Why?

54 doubles. They scored it a double and an error.
A summer watching a bad Reds' team, is still a pretty good summer.

In that case, I withdraw my rejection. Maybe they can unfreeze Ted Williams' frozen head and bring him on staff.

Wait, I'm confused, which Jay Bruce are you talking about? The one who has improved on his HR total EVERY year in the bigs? The one who was an All Star last year? The one who clinched the division for us in '10? The one who has repeatedly carried this club? Oh, that guy? Yeah, he's a scrub. Does he have any options left?

I think we should all chip in and get him a thinking of you card. That might perk him up and may just be a decent player after all.

Coming into the season I was hoping Bruce would be more consistent. After this start, however, I'm praying for some MAJOR inconsistency.

He'll turn it around soon enough.

Re: Get Bruce some extra help?

On a serious note, I have wondered how many players have their own swing coach, similar to PGA Tour players. Do most MLB Players go with their team hitting coach/manager? What percentage have their own hitting instructor?

For Bruce especially, I feel there is someone out there that could lead him to super stardom. The talent is there, but something is holding him back from going from very good to outstanding. I wonder who could be the guy to help him. I'm pretty certain that guy is not currently sitting in the Reds dugout.
