    Get Bruce some extra help?

Would it be wrong to try to get Jay Bruce some extra help, such as a personal hitting coach? You really can't do much worse than he is doing. 7 strikeouts in 13 AB with 1 hit. I worry about Cozart also, as he is 0 for 13, only difference is he has K'd only once. As a team, we have 16 hits in 30 innings. We must improve on that.

Facing Weaver and Wilson will make a lot of teams look bad, particularly in the very cold weather. Bruce has always been streaky. He started off cold, no doubt. With the Nationals and Cards next on the slate, the hitting could still struggle a bit.

But we just took 2 of 3 from one of the teams favored in the AL. AND that was without much from Votto. I am very encouraged by the start. Facing Strasburg in the next Series probably won't jump the hitting stats. But if we take 2 of 3 in that one, I will beyond happy.

Votto has one hit so far this season, and it was a cheap one. A guess he needs extra help too.

It's just Jay being Jay. I wouldn't worry yet. When he goes off there will be a thread poking fun at this one, which is funny to watch. He'll get his.

And on another note, Dan Haren is just what the doctor ordered for Jay IMHO. And I was there the night he faced Strasburg for the first and only time. Two line drives up the middle off him. He handles guys like Stras pretty well.

7 Ks out of 13 though, with a track record of going ice cold.

We're already well pass that number for his career and Bruce turned 26 just yesterday.

    Great expectations, indeed.

Why not wait 100 ab's before we decide that he sucks?

FYI K's is an issue all over the game, look at some other teams everyone K's these days

Last season, teams struck out at a rate never before seen: 7.5 times for each team every game, an increase of nearly 20 percent from 2005. Ten of the 30 major league teams set franchise records for strikeouts last season and most came close.
The O's had SEVEN players with 100 K's last year, between 1876-1968 only 209 guys struck out 100 times in a season.. 109 did last year.

The game has changed, guys like Bruce are all over the place, most however hit less balls out of the park.. none have personal hitting coaches

But maybe they should. I think everyone of them should have a hitting coach, and it should happen immediately. The O's would need an extra dugout to accomodate all the gurus. Which would be fun.

For the record, that was 2 of 3 they just took from one of the other best teams in baseball. With Votto, Bruce, Hanigan and Cozart not hitting much of anything.

    And no Ludwick.

    With awesome pitching.

So, that's probably a good place to focus too.

The Angels have one of the best lineups in baseball, and struck out 36 times this series.

Get them some help while you are at it.

After averaging only 1 run a game for the first third of the season, the Reds have made an amazing comeback and averaged 5 runs a game.

That doesn't sound right. How many coaches were hired Monday in the overnight after the opening day loss?
