Record doesn't mean a darn after one week. But for those who want to take that into account this early, here are the Espn rankings for you.

Or he's afraid of being called a homer. Kirk Herbstreit is notorious for talking down OSU on ESPiN because he is afraid of the homer label. In fact, he goes overboard.

I don't think that espn even considers baseball as a sport important to their programming. On their flagship station they air baseball tonight rarely and at late times while they air "NFL 32" in the afternoons during the offseason! I listen to Sirius MLB network at times and to espn radio. The coverage for baseball on MLB is similar to the coverage of NFL on Espn, so I just assume that espn & espn radio are an extension of the NFL.

I know ESPN has a bad reputation, but I feel like their best guys cover baseball. I don't think any other sport has a Tim Kurkjian or Buster Olney. The only guys I see relating are Adam Schefter and John Clayton, but I feel overall ESPN is best at baseball in terms of staff.

And he gave a disclaimer before explaining his top 5 saying that the reds weren't just on there because they were his team. No disclaimer needed Barry. You probably should've had them higher.

Leading the division by 2 games and have the highest run differential in the MLB while the Nats are 1.5 games down in their division and have a negative run differential? Explain to me again ESPN how the Nats are better.

Because one week means little, if anything.

Why would ESPN, I don't know, take what happened in the first week and use that as criteria for the rankings?

    1) In reality one week doesn't mean much

    2) However power rankings (which are meaningless) typically factor in momentum (what have you done for me lately)

    3) I can think of no reason why the Reds dropped.

Get used to it with the ESPN lovefest of the Nats. They've found their Tim Tebow for baseball and his name is Bryce Harper.

It's not just one week. Only one game separated the two teams last year. There is no logical reason why, after taking 2 of 3 from them, we should be below them in any power rankings. Of course it doesn't mean anything, but at least use some logic.

I can think of few things in life more superfluous than the notion of ranking all the teams in baseball after game 6 of 162.

If we manage to capture the top "ESPN Power Rankings" spot by the end of the year, do you think the celebratory parade will take place on opening day?

And worst in terms of coverage.

On ESPN... NFL Live, NFL 32, NFL Primetime, Audibles, and the sunday pregame show during the season, PLUS at least 2-3 stories on sportscenter every night.

Baseball gets Baseball Tonight, promoted as on every night, but i never see it on Saturdays for some reason.
