Reds Staff in 2012- Historically good?

I had not seen this before:
Reds staff ERA+ was in top 10 in baseball history.

Last year’s NL Central winners had an offense that was, especially with Joey Votto out, just okay, but the pitching staff was, by at least one measure, one of the best in baseball history. It wasn’t instantly apparent, because the Great American Ball Park does so much to disguise their greatness, but consider ERA+, which accounts for league and park factors:

ERA is a measure of run prevention, not just pitching staff performance. While people generally recognize the Reds good defense, they often forget about it when discussing the success of the pitching staff.

For the last four years, the Reds staff ERA has been less than their FIP and their team defensive UZR/150 has been positive. The Reds staff had a great year last year, but let's not forget to recognize the role of the defense.

and former Red and Cardinal Jason LaRue's career was ended in 2010 when Johnny Cueto jump-kicked him in the middle of a bench-clearer.

I did not know this happened. We all remember the fight, but thats terrible. I feel for LaRue.

I'm surprised you haven't heard about this. It sucks for a player to end his career early. It's interesting it happened to be LaRue, a guy that played for both teams.

Remember, he was the Card's Corky Miller. He wasn't going to help them win any extra games.

Larue was basically done, concussion or no concussion.

It irritates me to have to hear that crap.
