During his freshman and sophomore years in college he started and relieved. During his junior season he relieved exclusively. How the Reds plan to use him I have no idea.

I just checked his stats while in the AZL. He only pitched 2 innings. So, that would lead one to assume a reliever role for him, but what do I know?

With so few innings in the Arizona League, it makes me wonder why he was promoted so quickly.

The only reason he was in Arizona was to get back into the game. He had a bit of off time between when he last played and when he signed his contract.

What's the story with Sebastien Elizalde? He was playing in the Mexican League, which I thought was equivalent to AAA. I don't think that I have seen him play yet. He can't be in extended spring training still, can he?

Nice to see. Surprised Lively isn't going with him. The Dayton stable of arms is looking pretty impressive even after Stephenson left town:

Travieso, Guillon, Cisco, Romano, and now Garrett.

That's a pretty good rotation for the Midwest League.

Maybe Lively gets the bump if/when Cisco goes to Bakersfield?

Jackson Stephens is worth keeping an eye on, too, IMO.

How were those moves associated? Housey has been in Dayton for awhile and likewise McMyne in Bakersfield.

I guess this is the first year I've actually paid much attention to the minors, and I'm in need of an education lol

Because at the time McMyne was in Dayton (for several weeks, perhaps a month) and Housey was in Billings (he was only in Dayton for a brief period of time earlier this season).

    Minor League Transactions: July 11-17

    Cincinnati Reds

Signed: 3B Mike Costanzo (released by Nationals, July 9)
Draft pick signed: OF Alex Greer (29)
Traded: RHP Armando Galarraga to Rockies for RHP Parker Frazier
Added to 40-man roster: C Corky Miller
Optioned to Rookie-level Arizona League: LHP Tony Cingrani
Option transferred: RHP Carlos Contreras (high Class A to Double-A)
Placed on 7-day DL: RHP Mike Dennhardt, RHP Brian Pearl, 3B Marquez Smith, SS Carlton Daal
Placed on 60-day DL: OF Jose De Luna
Transferred to 60-day DL: RHP Dan Langfield

Tony Cingrani (3.23 ERA, 10.8 SO/9, 3.7 BB/9 in 15 MLB appearances) won’t spend long in the Arizona League because he can be recalled as the 26th man for an upcoming Reds doubleheader.

How did you post this 44 years ago?
Attended 1976 World Series in my Mother's Womb. Attended 1990 World Series Game 2 as a 13 year old. Want to take my son to a a World Series Game in Cincinnati in my lifetime.
