The Cincinnati Reds have signed catcher Matt Kennelly to a minor league deal, according to a source. The 24-year old Aussie was released by the Atlanta Braves on May 14th after appearing in five games (.417/1 HR/4 RBI) for Triple-A Gwinnett.
Kennelly, who has spent his entire career in the Braves organization, has played in seven minor league seasons. For his career, he has hit .256 with 27 HR and 197 RBI in 490 minor league games.
After being hit by a pitch during spring training, Kennelly was sidelined for the first month of the season before making his debut on April 27th. Now healthy, he will either be assigned to Triple-A Louisville or Double-A Pensacola to provide catching depth in the Reds organization.
Wonder if he is related to Josh Kennelly, who is also a Red, also from Australia. They were born about 20 minutes apart. Brothers perhaps?

Robert Stephenson’s upward trajectory with low Class A Dayton—he’s 4-0, 0.92 in his past six starts, with 50 strikeouts and five walks in 39 innings—will be interrupted as he recovers from a strained left hamstring.
The Reds signed a pair of undrafted Ohio college players after the draft who happen to be the progeny of Reds executives. Joe Jocketty, whom the Cubs drafted out of a St. Louis high school in ’09, is the son of GM Walt Jocketty. J.R. Reynolds, who previously attended Cincinnati’s Moeller High, is the son of pro/global scouting director Terry Reynolds.
Wimberly's minor league numbers read like an older but slightly more productive Derrick Robinson.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”
When did Sean Buckley get hurt?

Shall be interesting. That's a new group of teammates for Yorman. But I think he played for DeShields in both Billings and Dayton.Yorman to P Cola. Mather released.
