Interesting considering I thought DatDude was one of our better players. Does that mean we have below average players at most other positions besides 1B, RF and CF?
Yes that was a very impressive infield single. I thought for a second it was leaving the yard. - texasdave 10/13/12

Not necessarily. Also depends on the competition at the position in question.

Not really surprised, this has been Phillip's worst year yet and is exactly why many of us feared the contract extension given to him as he approaches the wrong side of 30. He has been steadily declining the last 3 years and hopefully it does not get much worse since we still have 4 more years.

That's not a bad team, actually.

Finally, what is the ultimate average major-league player hitting this season? .253/.317/.397. Once again, that is approximately All-Star Brandon Phillips.
However, second base is a premium defensive position. I'd guess that Phillips is still in the upper half of second basemen.

Should probably say most average hitter, not player. Phillips may be an average hitter before park adjustments (his OPS+ of 93 coming into today is below average), but we all know he is still very strong with the glove.

Offensively? Yes IMO. But have to consider that Ludwick has been out so LF is not a fair comparison.

That's what I was thinking. A couple of years ago, that's almost an all-star lineup.

It's based off an average of all plate appearances. Including those sexy pitchers that hit in our NL.

    I'd say it's about average.
