    Minor League Update Friday 4/19

Bear with me, because this is being done on my phone at work.

Louisville loses 4-1 to Indy. Corcino throws 3, walks 6, gives up 2ER. Arredondo struck out two more in a scoreless inning. Hamilton walked, stole his tenth, and scored. Phipps was 1-2 with 2BB

    Pensacola was postponed.

Bakersfield won 9-7. D'Anna hit his 2nd HR, Duran his first. Yorman was 4-5 with 2 doubles and 2RBI. Silverio was 3-4. Waldrop, Duran, and D'Anna all had 2 hits. Wright was the only hitless starter.
Robles pitched 4 allowed 5ER and struck out 9. Doyle got the win. Pearl got the save.

Dayton loses 5-2. Romano goes 4.1 giving up 3R, zero earned. Winker goes 3-4, Gelalich is 2-4.

    Yorman wins his first MiLPotD.

Since there are no teams on the moon, I guess South Korea's far enough from Cincinnati to satisfy me.

Didn't mention that Romano gave up seven hits and only struck out one. Also an extremely rare night where Duran and YRod had 10 ABs without a K.

Thanks for stepping up, OGB. . . . Corcino, 6 BB in three innings? Yeesh. And Louisville with only two hits. Not a good night in Pitinotown.

You know, I'd rather see Yorman with four hits than, say, two home runs. Love the contact. That seems like a real good sign for him.

Good to see Winker swinging it.

Don't necessarily want to start a new thread, but I have been following Dominic D'Anna the last couple seasons. Noticed he had a decent night. What's the word on this kid? Obviously he is stuck behind Votto on the depth chart at 1B.

What do we know about Dominic D'Anna?

I kept misspelling his name as Dominic DiAnna when I was writing the updage last night. That's about all I got.

Photo of Sal Romano that I took last night. The kid couldn't catch a break. He induced 8 groundballs in the 2nd inning to see an infield hit and 3 fielding errors.

Only that two years ago, in Dayton, when he was a Midwest League midseason all-star, he won the first-base job over Donald Lutz. Then he got hurt.

OK. Confession time. The first time I ever heard of D'Anna, a couple years ago, I was playing the OOTP baseball sim, and D'Anna was one of the farmhands listed for the Reds. I first assumed he was a fictitious player created by the game as roster fodder. Imagine my surprise to discover he was a real player.

Since then, his name has always stuck out when I glance at minor league box scores.
