I just wish Jeremy Sowers was an option for this poll but a few years too early.

Hard to make judgements in this poll when everybody's at a different stage of development, many started in different spots, and everyone was picked at a different level. If we're going for what it seemed like at the time of the draft, it gets even harder because it's hard to ignore what players like Buster Posey have done, even though that pick could have been just as likely to blow up in their faces; you also have to factor in that draft quality changes from year to year. And even then, some picks may have been clear attempts to save signing money, which doesn't necessarily make them bad picks so much as an alternate drafting strategy.

I'll pick Rosa, I suppose. He was an above-slot signing in a talent-loaded draft, and hasn't shown much in the way of development so far.

Awesome you took time to share your thoughts in such a ridiculous thread. Looks like the three pages of posts disagree with your assessment.

Also, don't ever put me in the position to defend a Michigan fan (Benihana) again. That's just wrong, man.

The past six years have been among the best ever for Cincinnati in terms of drafting. Very, very few boneheaded moves and quite a few smash success stories.

Jocketty and company are killing it, right now.

Highly tempted to pick LaMarre, but I went with Lotzkar (whom I suspect is never going to pitch in the majors and won't fetch anything in trade either). LaMarre might still have a future as a bench player. Rosa eventually could be the pick, but he's 19.

Part of being a bad draft pick is also whether the team missed on someone kind of awesome. In Rosa's case, it's not clear that it cost the Reds a single player of any quality (the subsequent picks have been mediocre-to-bad).

Instead of LaMarre, the Reds could have had Drew Smyly, Andrelton Simmons or Cody Buckel.

Jordan Zimmerman and Giancarlo Stanton were on the board when the Reds took Lotzkar.
Wait until the year after next year.

Rosa would be my choice. He hasn't developed much since being drafted. He still has the tools that got him drafted, but his health issues have set him back.
This is a tough crowd. No love for Lohmann, Lamarre and Lotzkar? They have all been in the Reds top 25 prospects during the last two years. I think they all have a legitimate path to playing in the majors. I'm not sold on their potential to be impact players but they have average and above tools.
