Greinke is sorry for not warning his catcher that there may be bad blood between him and Quentin. Also, feels bad cause he criticized our favorite pitcher, Chris Carpenter, for yelling at the Brewers in 2011.

I really hate when people say someone leaned into a pitch. Obviously you have never been in that situation. Yes he has been hit the most of any player. so what. I was apart of many teams where 1 guy always got hit more than any other batter, and he did nothing different than anyone else.
If the ball is going over the plate and he leans into it...Its still a strike and it will and always has been called a strike
but the biggest thing, just think about it, and if thinking about it doesnt work go in the back yard with a baseball bat and have a guy throw a few strikes and then one at you and just see what you do. As a batter, before every pitch comes to the plate, you are under the impression it is going to be a strike so you are ready to hit...so bailing out is never on the mind. you are only 60 feet away, take another 5 feet or so off of that by the time the pitcher releases the ball. You have literally a split second to react. So if the ball is coming at you, you dont have enough time to jump out of the way. Im sorry you just dont. Your feet are planted, youre set, youre cocked back and ready to swing.
trying to Jump back or open up will cause a much worse injury when getting hit than getting hit in the back or arm or thigh. Like i said, you are a hitter trying to hit the ball and you only have a second to react. the ball is coming in at 90+ not low 50s like in pre high school ball when you could easily jump out of the way. These are professional hitters and pitchers so the mind set is everything is going to be hittable. You cock back getting ready to swing and then you see the ball isnt going to break..you take it on the shoulder
So because you were on teams (what are we talking, knothole level?) where certain batters got hit more than others, that proves that certain players don't lean into pitches?
OK, that solves everything!
Nope.
Do some research on Don Baylor and get back to me. Some players DEFINITELY lean into pitches and try and get hit. This is not debatable.
actually i played college and minor league ball, unlike 99% of this bored and until it happens to you instead of what you hear from someone else..yes you are right..this isnt debatable
If the ball goes over the plate and he leans into it...Its a STRIKE. Until you are put into that situation..you have no idea what you are talking about

Ron Hunt would do anything to get on base. In 1971, he got HBP more than he K'd.

Then you should know better than most that some guys hitting style makes them more prone to being hit (or less likely to be able to get out of the way) than others.
Other guys aren't likely to even attempt to get out of the way. "Leaning in" to a pitch doesn't mean it was going to be a strike. If some guy throws a cement mixer and it hangs up close to the arm, guys like Biggio are likely to lean back while sticking an arm out.
Do what'cha gotta do to get on.
Everything that can be counted does not necessarily count; everything that counts cannot necessarily be counted.

That's not what we're talking about here. You made the (incorrect) assertion that batters don't ever lean into pitches. Quentin was not hit with a pitch that was a strike or even close, so I'm not even sure why you brought your incorrect assertion up in the first place.
I might be biased as a former pitcher (played varsity in high school and could have played small-school college ... guess I wasn't quite on your level) but you have to be kidding me when you say batters don't lean into pitches from time to time. How else do you explain Don Baylor? It's also not a coincidence that Carlos Quentin has been hit a lot. I don't care what happened on your college and minor league teams. You must not have been paying close attention if you really believe some batters don't try and get hit.
But wait, this dude on my high school team got hit more than anyone else on our roster, so that proves that batters don't lean into pitches. You following my logic here? Are you? ARE YOU?
Ron Hunt was obviously lying to get attention. It was just a coincidence he got hit so much. If only I had "any idea of what I was talking about."
*Sigh*

I can attest that Craig Biggio leaned into pitches to purposefully get hit. He wore that Barry Bonds body armor and quite often took one for the team. No doubt in my mind.
