I think I nearly jinxed my own post.
The first time this team plays a full 40 minutes of basketball full throttle will be the first time all season.
As of right now IMO, only Julius and Young are NBA ready. We may never see a mixture like that again although none of these kids are ready for the NBA, doubt any of main 4 will be back. It will probably be starting over next season with Marcus Lee etc as returning veterans.
The Harrisons stock has taken a major hit all season. Andrew Harrison is a Tyreke Evans type of PG, as in only good at slashing to the rim and hitting the occasional three. As WMR put it, he doesn't create for anybody and outside of Ryan Harrow who we can all agree was in over his head, has been the most frustrating of the Calipari PG's to date. Both of the twins have horrible body language, whether its whining after a bad call to letting poor play affect their overall games.
The only concern I have with the twins is, will they listen to Cal? Part of me wants to say yes, but I wouldn't be surprised if they are here to put in their one year and leave for the NBA, similar to Archie Goodwin last season.
Poythress is limited by his size. He's 6'8, which is perfect for a SF, except he lacks the athleticism and perimeter game to be a wing. He's undersized in the NBA as a PF, especially not being a three point threat. It would be in his best interest to come back and work on getting more in shape (which he has done wonders in compared to last season) and refining his outside game similar to what Patrick Patterson did in Cal's first season.
Dakari and Willie Cauley-Stein both have upside. Dakari is more of a traditional center, similar to what DeMarcus Cousins was when he was here. You have to slow the game down when Dakari is in and let him pound away inside. WCS I think is more likely to get drafted at this point. He is raw and has more potential, even with his disappearance in SEC play. A second year in Cal's system could make Dakari a star and likely elevate his draft stock.
If the twins come back, as does Dakari and Poythress with the mix of players coming in next season (Towns, Ulis, Lyles, and Booker), it will be an interesting mix of players and really a different look to this team than what I thought at the start of the year.
