I definitely think it could work. Matthews is a slasher while Kennard is a three point specialist.
I've seen Kennard play about 10 times this year. Got a lil local knowledge on this one.

As I said, I just don't think there's a leader at this point. It wouldn't shock me at all if he went to UK. But those who are predicting he'll go anywhere are purely guessing at this point.

FYI: Franklin HS has an interesting matchup in their sectional final game this weekend. Dayton Marshall has a couple mid-major guys and will run Kennard all over the court. That district is just brutal. Franklin was the number 5 team in the AP poll last time I looked, but the number 3 seed in their own district. (Behind Marshall and Dunbar, who has the next OSU PG.)

This loss is solely on Andrew Harrison. Between the lob pass at the end of the second half, or the foul that led to free throws to tie the game which ultimately went to overtime.

Making free throws wouldn't be too much to ask either.

I blame Cal just as much.

What an epic disappointment this team has been... losing at home to unranked teams is Billy Clyde stuff.

Everyone keeps hoping they "turn a corner" ... myself included. I'm starting to think more along the lines of Bill Parcells "you are what your record says you are."

Actually fellas...it was my fault. I watched the game, it seems that every time I watch them they fail to impress.

    Re: UK Basketball DY9ASTY Edition

Here was my rant about the game last night as I posted in on WCN.

I've pretty much given up on this team and season. It's not just because they are losing. It's the way they are playing. I have been following UK basketball for over 40 years and I can say without hesitation that this is the most selfish group of players I have ever seen at UK. They will not pass the ball on a break with open men on each side of them. That happened twice last night. Just pure outright selfishness. Quite honestly most of these freshman can go pro for all I care. They don't belong here and need to try the pros and get their money. That's all they are her for anyway. Its just a necessary
evil on their way to the NBA. Of course a few of them may get fooled and never make that money. With all the apparent selfishness why doesn't the coach do anything about it? He has said since day one that he has a bench this year and none of the sheninagans that went on last season will go on this season. Well, its still happening and the coach is seemingly doing nothing about it. I know what I saw on two breaks last happened I would be sitting some guys at the end of the bench for a good long while. But the coach just keeps making the excuse of "we are young". Well no kidding. You know what and how you recruited. Its up to you to do something about it.
Can there be two more overrated guards coming out of high school than the Harrisons? They are slow, can't shoot, self absorbed with themselves and seeming are unwilling to improve. These two guys are the most joyless characters I have ever seen at UK. They seem to be just miserable and can't wait to leave. Well I can't wait for them to leave. Some want them to comeback next season but at this point I hope they don't. I can't ever see them being winners at UK. Cal really blew in the evaluation of these two. That's two years in a row he has blown the point guard evaluation. Will he have a trifecta next year?
Anyway that's senough of that. I am totally disgusted and now disinterested in this season. I don't see them turning anything around. My bet is they will bottom out and lose to some really bad team like South Carolina or Alabama or someone of the same in the SECT. Maybe I will get back to being enthused about UK basketball by the start of next season. But right now I really don't like where the program is going with all these "elite" players who really don't give a darn about UK and are here as a brief stopover to the NBA.

I think there are some coaches who just have Cals number. Mike Anderson is one of them. Keep in mind Anderson when at Missouri knocked Cals Memphis team out of the NCAA tournament right before Kentucky hired Cal.

I'm sure if Bob Huggins wasn't a WVU alum somebody else in the SEC would be making a play for him.

This might be the conspiracy theorist in me, but I also think that the SEC is trying to get more teams into the NCAA tournament. With the officiating being the way it was (even Bob Knight commented on the blown calls) and so many teams on the bubble, it is entirely possible.

How many free throws did the officials miss last night?

The officiating was bad on both sides. Real bad. I don't think it had an effect on UK though. Their inability to shoot and play consistent defense beat them as it has all year. They have made no improvement at all and that falls on the coaching staff.

Last I checked, they didn't throw up a horrible lob and foul a player to put them on the line to tie the game either.

Can't really make excuses though. Great teams play through horrible officiating, but there is no denying that the sec is trying to get more teams in.

    Re: UK Basketball DY9ASTY Edition

If UK plays even a C- game last night they win, officials notwithstanding. Unfortunately, the team graded out to around a D/D+ instead.

I was never the most talented player on the floor when I played... but there was never anyone who played harder than I did. That's what really disappoints me the most about this crew... to have the god given abilities that they have and not do what should be the absolute simplest thing and PLAY HARD ALL GAME is just dumbfounding to me. I cannot fathom it.

Andrew Harrison is NOT, I repeat **NOT** a point guard. How is he going to play point guard in the NBA when he, LITERALLY, cannot feed the post?

Also, considering how brain dead this team plays most of the time... why in the hell did Cal keep two timeouts in his pocket at the end of regulation while allowing Andrew to throw that ridiculous ish at the rim? Don't even get me started on the lob on the second to last play...

Can I pose one question to you rabid UK fans?

Exactly what were your expectations of this year's team?

Top 5 team with a legitimate shot of making the Final Four and winning a championship.

I didn't expect this team to go undefeated, but I also didn't expect them to have the type of season they have had either.
