I think it's silly that any UK fan would want Calipari gone. You're not gonna win it all every year, and he's got a title and a final four in recent years. No system is perfect and his is gonna have its flaws as well, but it's not like this team couldn't make the final four as a 9 seed. They're inconsistent, that's a heck of a lot better than being bad.
Any UK fan who honestly wants Cal to leave is foolish, IMO.
These past two years notwithstanding, how many teams would trade their last 5 seasons for ours? That's a long list.
I'm still rolling with Cal.

It is funny how the "what have you done for me lately" mentality comes out sometimes at big time programs. I have been guilty of it myself. But it is what it is concerning Cal's success. He took UMass to the FF, he resurrected a Memphis program, and he has been working his majic at Kentucky. So it wasn't so good last year. There will be years like that. So this season doesn't meet expectations. There will be years like that. There is no bigger job in college basketball through the years than being the head man at UK. The 'Cats have theirselves a fine coach at the helm.

I'm not saying I want Cal to leave, I'm saying my feelings wouldn't be hurt if he did.
I'll wait and reserve more judgment after the season , but the next two games will tell a lot. Cal says he will be the coach his players need, and they don't need a micromanager. I'm hoping he takes the reins off and let's them play without worrying about what his reaction will be.
I'm just hoping some of these players come back. If anything to show that Kentucky isn't just a one year pitstop of mediocrity before they cash in at the NBA.
A one year pit stop of mediocrity?
Damn.
Championships for MY teams in my lifetime:
Cincinnati Reds - 75, 76, 90
Chicago Blackhawks - 10, 13, 15
University of Kentucky - 78, 96, 98, 12
Chicago Bulls - 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 98

If Cal leaves, it will be on his own accord for another NBA job -- Why he'd want to do that, program builder that he is, I don't know -- so it is an entirely different dynamic than if Indiana were to jettison Crean a year from now with, as Hoosier Red put it, the thanks, but we can do better mantra, which, IMO, puts more pressure on the incoming coach than if the departing coach leaves on his own accord.
Given that, an up-and-coming tireless recruiter -- Josh Paster, for example -- may well be excited by the prospects of establishing a Pitino-like or even Rupp-like legacy.

Marshall would be an odd fit for UK with his personality. I like him a lot, but there's a reason he stayed at Winthrop so long and hasn't left WSU yet. He's a different sort of guy. I think there's even a chance he'd turn down UK to stary at WSU. He says he turned down UCLA last year.
I think he'd sort of relish the villain role, though, so UK might be a better fit for him than some other places.
