    2013 Cardinals Discussion

The Cardinals now have allowed just one 1 over the last 31 innings and none in the last 26, and its likely to keep going as the Brewers have one of the worst lineups ever with so many guys hurt and the two names playing aren't 100% with Weeks not being the same player since getting hurt and Braun playing with a hurt neck and can't reach anything on the outer half and has struck out in 5 of 6 AB this series.

Cardinals get one on a two strike RBI by Wainwright that would have been a liner to SS if the infield wasn't playing in due to a WP advancing a runner to 3rd. Yovani Gallardo is 1-9 vs St Louis heading for 1-10 vs 68-34 against all other teams. He's also 0-1 in the playoffs vs STL.

    EDIT:
Lat night Braun dives for a ball and the ground knocks it out of his glove leading to the first run, today Jay lays out for a dive and hold on to a snow cone catch and the next guy hits a doubles with two outs but was stranded to run, now up to 29 scoreless.

Wainwright gets infield single his 2nd of the game, Jay a single into LF, HBP and then Holliday nearly decapitates him with a liner back at him to make it 3-0, he gets a pop up for the first out but then Craig lines one into center to push it to 4-0 and he's pulled leaving two on and one out.

Badenhop helps it go from bad to worse for Gallardo as he give up a RBI single to Molina to make it 5-0, gets Freese and then whoever this 5th sting guy playing 1B for the Brewers is lets a ball go right between his legs to make it 6-0 and then Wainwright makes it 7-0 to go 3-for-3 today and has two hits in the 6th while the Brewers have 2 hits all game. Mike Gonzalez comes in a Jay makes it 8-0 on a single before getting Carpenter to end the innings.

Wainwright has 1 more RBI today that the Cardinals pitchers have gave up in last 33 innings.

Nope I watch whoever is contending with us and in the NL. I would be more than happy for the Cardinals to start losing 100 games a year and watch whoever moves up from the Pirates, Cubs or Brewers and not watch a single Cards AB unless they played us or another contender.

32 scoreless now for the Cardinals as they get their 3rd shutout in a row for the first time since 1988. They have allowed 1 run and just 16 hits in 4 games since our 9 run inning. Their SP have drove in 3 over the same period and have matched a quarter of total hits they've allowed which seems about right for the Pixy Dust kings.

Yeah no luck at all to that .400 BA with RISP as it happens all the time or that 32 straight scoreless innings on the back of 3 shutouts in a row for the first time in 25 years all while leading the NL in two our runs. They have the skill to be 2nd in the NL in total runs despite being 14th in walks and 10th in OPS while being dead last with one SB attempted and slightly below average in HR.

Cardinals are the team to beat in the central, their starting pitching is sooo good 1-5 that it can mask a weak bullpen and their hitting is pretty good too

Yeah I'm sure they can keep up that MLB leading 1.99 starters ERA they have so far this year.

I agree with you on this. One thing that tells me he's going to have a huge year is that his walk rate is back to where it was a couple of years ago. He leads the AL in walks with 11 thus far. Half of his 10 hits have also gone as extra base hits.

Why are we arguing about the Cardinals on Redzone?

Mike Thierry on a Reds board of all place gets upset if we don't bow down to the Cardinals. This lead to the scoreboard watching thread getting hijacked and the mods made this for him to keep on dragging out his battles attempting to convince us all how skilled they are and how they never have any crazy luck to win and how all their minor leagues will either match or exceed their minor league numbers and they never have any prospects fail.

Even when you started the discussion there? I also love it how you take everything I've said out of proportion and pretty much distort everything I said. Are you always this dishonest?

Its the scoreboard watching thread, I talked bout the Cardinals game and you got upset about it and hijacked the thread. You do know this is a Reds board and you and your over the top Cardinals hype isn't going to be agreed with, Right?

That's fine to discuss them but I'm going to retort when you think it's all luck without even giving any nod to the skill that they have in the lineup. They've had the best offense in the NL in 2011 and the best or second best offense in 2012 in the NL. You have categorized that as luck and there's a lot more to it than just luck. I conceded that they're not going to hit .400 with RISP all season. I never denied that.

EDIT: Anyone can see, in this thread, that you started taking shots. I'm going to defend my team if I feel that the argument used to somehow diminish what they're doing is flawed. You also seem to be conveniently ignoring my stance that the bullpen is bad and that they won't go far unless that situation is rectified.
