Latos lets Alvarez get away from him. 2 out BB.

Literally LOL. Nope, not looking for or expecting that. Just said I'd expect that as a precondition to Heisey keeping a spot in the lineup over the next several months and beyond. Wouldn't bet on that happening. But if he did get the BA and OBP up significantly, I would change my generally pessimistic view about him. What I did with Ian Desmond last year coming off the lackluster 2011 campaign in DC.

Hmmm, Latos has never lost to the Bucs. Useful and interesting stat there.

Apparently, according to Fay, LeCure was unavailable last night. So that gives us a better reason why we saw Simon, Hoover & Parra. I didn't catch WHY he was unavailable though. Did anybody?

It is simply foolish to criticize a player for hitting the ball extremely hard into bad luck.

Looked like he was having trouble locating his curve against Alvarez...the 3-2 pitch was a curve that was way outside. Then he punched out McHenry with two straight knee-bucklers that McHenry had no chance with. Mat is going to be tough on these Buccos with a 4-run lead. GO REDS!!

I'm sure it was the first pitch swinging that he was being criticized for, not the scorcher that was nabbed.

Anyone catch what Latos' velocity has been trending so far? Tougher to glean from mlbtv.com for me.
