Aroldis hasn't pitched since last Sunday. Yes, he needs to pitch. So does Broxton.

    Another single, Walker to left.

    Go Reds!!
I'd say no. I'd actually put Hoover in to close. Exactly the kind of lower leverage and confidence-boosting oppy he needs imho. Agree Chapman needs the work but the Hoover situ feels like a higher priority right here and how given min downside to deferring Chapman for another day.

    Latos escapes.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

*whew* That was interesting. Grounder to Votto...in and out of his glove but sticks with it, out at first with Latos covering. 5-0 it stays. That should be it for Latos IMO. I'd go 1 inning each for LeCure, Broxton & Chapman.

I get wanting to get Hoover back on track, but I don't focus on the rook at the expense of hurting your horses. They need some work. 3 days off is one thing....7 is a whole different ballgame for a reliever.

It's nice to have a lead so when our pitcher makes a mistake, it doesn't cost him the game. Much less stressful on him.

It's the logical and likely relief plan for today. Still like the more out-of-the-box idea to give JJ the 9th but that's why I'm neither manager nor pitching coach.

I think Dusty sends Latos back out for at least one more inning.

If Hoover pitches today I will be convinced Dusty hates the kid and wants to literally see his arm come off.

If Hoover pitches today I will be convinced that Dusty hates everyone and just wants to watch the world burn

Possible. Especially if LeCure is still under the weather.

Yep. And that's why it won't happen. But, if he did do it and Hoover had a 1-2-3 inning, it be a very good thing beyond the game. Basically agree the risks outweigh the possible reward though so not arguing it strongly at all.

Latos is not going to want to come out after only 88 pitches. He's rolling along pretty smoothly...I'd leave him in past 100, personally.

Part of me agrees, the other part is already tired of seeing Hoover!

If Latos can finish the 7th, I'd like to see Ondrusek in the 8th and Marshall in the 9th if he's available (haven't heard) or LeCure if he isn't.

Phillips has done his best in his last couple of games to make them pitch to JV...they just won't do it.
