    Minor League Updates Thursdsay 4/18/2013

Watching Tony Cingrani so the updates may be both slow and infrequent.

Louisville - Pedro Villareal has pitched three scoreless frames without giving up a you-know-what.

Jason Donald is 2-2. He has scored twice and driven in one. He has a single and gone deep. Neftali Soto has a hit and scored a run. Mike Hessman has driven in a run. Henry Rodriguez double and ribeyed. Bats lead 3-0.

Neither team got a hit in the fourth. Still 3 zip.

Villareal gives up a couple singles and a couple of runs in the fifth. 3-2 Louisville. Villareal gives up 3 runs in 6 innings. Good job. It is all tied up at 3 in the 8th.
Jose "RMOS' Diaz pitched a scoreless seventh. Clay Hensley worked a scoreless eighth. Closer Kevin Whalen came on in the ninth and yielded the go-ahead run. Bats up in the bottom of the ninth trailing by one. Mike MacDougal came on and got the third out, making his Bats' debut. MacDougal is a youthful 36.

Hamilton walks with one out and promptly steals second. He still stands there with two down. Woohoo! Neftali Soto's third hit on the night ties things up. Yes!!

Dayton and Lake County have each posted three goose eggs. Drew Cisco on the mound. He also has yet to give up a you-know-what.
He hasn't walked a batter either, while striking out five.

Update: Dayton has posted at least two in the top of the fourth. Vincej is 2-2 with a run scored and a double. Winker has a triple and not sure why he hasn't got an rs or an rbi. Jeff Gelalich has a walk and a run scored. Junior Arias has singled and knocked in a run.

Ok. Zach Vincej singled in the first and was caught stealing. Then Jesse Winker tripled. That explains that.

Cisco roughed up in the bottom of the fourth. He gave up four hits and two runs. He struck out two more. Add two more Ks in the fifth. Through five innings Cisco has 9 Ks. And, of course, walked nobody.

Interesting to see Cisco racking up the Ks. I like him a lot, but didn't think he had that kind of arm.

Bryson Smith's double leads to a run and gives Sharky Rogers a 1-0 lead, now in the third.

    Cisco finished with 12 K in six innings: 5 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 12 K.

Dayton's 2-2 in the tenth. Mugarian gave up one hit and struck out four in his three innings.

    Wes Mugarian was pretty solid in relief. 3IP 1H 0ER 1BB 4K.
Alejandro Chacin, unscored upon for all of 2013, keeps right on trucking in the tenth.

Dragons hang a crooked number in the eleventh, scoring five. With one out Amaral walked. Vincej tripled him home and then he scored on a wild pitch. Winker walked. Mejias-Brean singles and another wild pitch puts runners on second and third. Gelalich's third hit on the night plated two. A hit by the pitch, a stolen base and a single by Tanner Rahier produces run number five.

Alejandro Chacin holds on for the win.

Dragons' pitching was simply outstanding. 11IP 7H 2ER 1BB 19K. Four of the hits and both of the runs came in one inning. Kudos.

MiLB still shows Pensacola in the third. Must be a rain delay or something. And no sooner do I type that then the box score magically shows them in the sixth. Pensacola is now leading 2-0. Bryson Smith singles, motors to third on an errant pickoff attempt and scores on a Tucker Barnhart single.

Sharky circling the win in the sixth inning. Through five his line was this. 5IP 2H 0ER 0BB 5K. Rogers' final line: 6.2IP 2H 1ER 3BB 5K. Drew Hayes has taken over the pitching duties. Hayes took over with a runner on first and two down. He gave up a single and a double. Bryson Smith must have bobbled the ball because he was charged with an error on the double. Two runs scored. Ballgame tied up at two going into the home half of the seventh. No win for the Shark tonight. Hayes deals a 1-2-3 eighth.

Bryson Smith having a rough night in the field. Two errors per GameDay. Both missed catches.

Pensacola thought eight runs in the eighth might be enough. And they were right.
Lutz tripled and doubled in the inning. Mattair doubled and singled. Smith walked and singled. Gilmartin walked. Barnhart walked. Lohman doubled.

Loek Van Mil pitched the ninth, facing three batters.

Bakersfield failed to score in the top of the first. Juan Perez singled but was erased on a GIDP. Jake Johnson taking the hill.
Bakersfield lead 4-1 after four. All four runs came in the second inning.
Duran tripled. D'Anna, Yorman, Joe Terry, Yovan Gonzalez followed with singles. With two gone Juan Perez added his second single of the game. Jake Johnson pitching well. 4IP 3H 1ER 0BB 4K.

    Jake Johnson: 5IP 5H 2ER 0BB 4K.
Blaze bullpen held down the fort with a combined four shutout innings.

Blaze batsmen rapped out thirteen hits. Juan Duran's triple and a dozen singles. Juan Perez had 3, Kyle Waldrop, Yorman Rodriguez and Yovan Gonzalez had two each.

    Bakersfield triumphs 4-2.

Lamarre had the 2 fielding errors from what I've seen. Smith was credited with one.

You could very well be right. I just go by what Gameday puts up.

Wow, best night of the year on the farm. Going to be a lot of great secondary candidates for MiLPotD, but Cisco's 6.2 IP ER 0BB 12K performance has to win it.
(Referring to Jack Hannahan signing with a Korean team)
Since there are no teams on the moon, I guess South Korea's far enough from Cincinnati to satisfy me.

Didn't realize Rahier was in Dayton? Where is Mejias-Brean going to play?
