I think the argument that defense is the main job of a catcher (with offense not being that important) doesn't hold up.

The best players at every position both hit and field their position. I don't think catcher is any different.

Sure, a catcher has to play good defense but if he can't hit right handed pitching it seriously hurts his value.
Well, I haven't looked at his splits. But I don't see steady decline. I see his OBP being a career high of .405 in 2010 then the next 2 season right at his career norms. His dingers went down last season, but he had twice as many doubles. And each year he's still having more BB's than K's. He'll be fine. He's in a slump, much like Joey is.

And don't get me wrong, I'm not down on Mes either. His time may very well be now...but the ragging on Hanny is excessive (that's all my point was).

Reds lose. Brutal loss. The Marlins are the worst team in baseball, by far.

Okay, I've been letting your comments slide...but come on. Are you even a Reds fan? Seriously? That's beyond absurd IMO.

Aww, and that's the game. Well, I guess we can't take them all. It was a good run, though.

If it were anyone else I'd chalk it up to a slump, but with Votto it is really really weird. Not saying we should worry about him, but at what point do we wonder? I've never seen him look this bad.

Never thought I'd see the day that Bruce looks way better than Votto at the plate.

I'm sure Votto will bounce back, but I can't imagine what is going on there.

Good grief I sure hope you aren't serious.
