I'm calling shenanigans. This is Qualls' second inning of work. That's not allowed.

    Question for the room:
Reds are on the road for an interleague game, so they're playing with the DH. Mike Leake is pitching and Hanigan is catching. Could they use Mesoraco as the DH for Hanigan and let Leake bat?

Basically, is the DH strictly for the pitcher or can another player be used replaced in the batting order instead?

Well a quick call to the league office fixed that Qualls BS.

Both Hanigan and Mesoraco are better hitters than Leake.

DH is strictly for the pitcher. Can not be used for any other player.

But I like the way you're thinking

Thanks - thought it might make how you use the DH a little more interesting!

Let's hope so, we don't have a very good extra inning track record this year.
    Is it "next season" yet?

IIRC that's not entirely true. I think there's some strange situation that allows the pitcher to move to a fielding position or something weird like that.

Found it. Not exactly what I was thinking, but an odd twist....

Pinch hitters for a Designated Hitter may be used. Any substitute hitter for a Designated Hitter himself becomes a Designated Hitter. A replaced Designated Hitter shall not re-enter the game in any capacity. The Designated Hitter may be used defensively, continuing to bat in the same position in the batting order, but the pitcher must then bat in the place of the substituted defensive player, unless more than one substitution is made, and the manager then must designate their spots in the batting order.

Marlins made a smart move bringing in the lefty reliever to face Paul and Choo. Reds could have switched off to Robinson for Paul, but in potential extra innings game, you don't usually "burn" bench players.

Next inning, they could leave the lefty in because of Votto, which gives Cozart the percentages in his favor.
