If Heisey gets his chance now and fails, it's out of the way early in the season. That's much better than later in the year.

I have no problem with Heisey coming off the bench in that 4th/5th OF role but playing him 5 times a week is insane. He has had chances before and this is exactly what we have seen from him before.

    Mes fans, Reds don't score.

Reds don't deserve to win ballgames if they keep letting Chris Heisey hit in important situations.

As far as I'm concerned, his 2013 trial run is over.

He's not a major league hitter. He swings at literally everything.

He's gone from hitting second to hitting seventh. IMO he should be cut.

Derrick Robinson can win you games with his speed. XPaul gets hot against righties.

    I'm done with Heisey. Period.

Clearly the Reds are just trying to accumulate the most men left on base as possible so that they can then....oh hell, I don't know. They really need to work on this

I agree. I've said this a few times before, but Heisey has the lowest baseball IQ of any Red I've ever seen. It's incredible how he has no clue what to do.

    Bright side....

Votto 3 for 4. Choo on base 4 times. Mesoraco 2 for 4. Bronson very solid start.

Baker's apparently saving Paul for the lefty Dunn.

Just like he did in Game 5 of the NLDS (Affeldt).

I thought he had PH Paul for Heisey once or twice before?

Thankfully Stanton decided to do his best Heisey impersonation and Arroyo goes 8 without imploding at the end.

Um, no it isn't anything like what we've seen from him. His career OPS is .735. Right now his OPS is .458. He's playing nothing like his career numbers at the moment.

Some of it has to do with a near .200 BABIP.

not just him, the entire team doesnt produce late in games in 1 run or tie games. Almost looks like they're incapable. Either they're scoring alot or not at all and that's not a recipe for success

    Bronson Arroyo. 8 ip, 2 hits, 2 runs, 1 bb, 6 k's.

    Now let's get him a W.

No argument there. Well, no current Red (Stubbs).

If Baker had to stay with Heisey (instead of Paul) at least make him put down a squeeze bunt.

I think he could manage that, he's a decent bunter.

Re: 4/20 Miami vs the Reds

Have to leave the game thread. Final words.

Last year when Heisey filled in for Stubbs I found myself wanting Stubbs back.

He cannot hit major league pitching. It's as simple as that.

The Reds should just cut him loose.

Very nice job by Arroyo. Latos deserved the win yesterday and didn't get it. Let's hope Arroyo gets his today.

Prove it. The Reds were 31-21 in one-run games last year. They won almost 50 games coming from behind. The constant whining and crying is making this board almost unreadable. It's like people have never followed a baseball season before.
