That would've been an unreal DP if they would've pulled it off. But they get the lead runner at 3rd on the pitchers bunt.

It's not that IMO. They don't work together often enough so Mes doesn't know what Homer's wanting. You get a feel for what a pitcher wants to throw in certain situations and you get a feel for how a certain pitch is working for that pitcher that day.

The initial pitch is called from the dugout I believe. But if it's shaken off, that's where the familiarity comes into play.

Bullpen up and working. Hoover warming after the bb to load em up.

    3 walks in the inning
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

That's Bailey's problem......Mez has been doing a good job back there lately. How about doing what your catcher wants.

Do you send him out there for the 5th? I do. But a short leash.

Hannahan flies out to center on the first pitch. Good pitch to swing at though.

Pitch count working its way up for Homer too. 65 in the 4th after the walk to Valaika
Yeah, his fastball is down in speed but his curve is really biting. He's getting people with the curve and splitter with an occasional high fastball. Hopefully, Mez can use the Hanigan injury and the addition of one of the best catching coaches around (Corky) to his advantage. He needs to really build some rapport with the pitchers and build their confidence in him.

Glad the Marlins aren't very good. A team like the Cards or Nationals would have probably blown Homer off the mound today.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!
