    Re-sign Choo?

Not enough money and Hamilton in the wings. I know, I know all the arguments why it won't happen.

But I simply don't understand why they don't try and do it anyway. We haven't had a legit leadoff hitter like this in forever. Dude is making the whole team better. Seriously.

They have to try. Arroyo coming off the books helps a little, at least. I say that as someone who loves Bronson, too.

Just remember....the vast majority of people here also said that we KNEW signing Votto wouldn't happen either. At this point, it seriously won't shock me at all if we extent Choo. I'm almost to the point where I expect it to happen.

Even with Hamilton in the wings, we can just move Choo over to LF. Choo doesn't necessarily need to be our leadoff hitter to be a successful batter on this team. The money situation on the other hand, that would be more difficult to overcome.

I know I want him here for a long time. I don't see how it can happen, but that's why I don't run a baseball team. If nothing else, I've got a full season to dream about it while he helps lead the team hopefully deep into the playoffs. What a great pickup he's been.

Considering the year he's putting up and his agent I highly, highly doubt we have the money to re-sign him unless he takes a discount to stay with us.
I see great things in baseball. It's our game.

I'd be willing to pitch in a few dollars.

What makes you think they haven't had some conversations with him and his agent?

Exactly. Batting order is overrated. Good OBP guys, OTOH, usually aren't.

As an added incentive, offer to let Boras be Marty's color guy.

    Machete don't text.

Boras don't negotiate contracts when player heading to FA.

    Re: Re-sign Choo?

I doubt it will happen, but I won't rule it out.

Many people thought The Reds had no chance to re-sign Votto or Phillips, and certainly not both - yet they did. So you never know.

I'd love to see it happen.

    Re: Re-sign Choo?

    Crazy fantasy scenario.

Reds make qualifying offer to Choo at the end of the year. Choo, afraid of what happened to Lohse, tells Boros to take it.

That's the only way I can see Choo playing for the Reds next season.
