Yessssss. I was hoping it wouldn't take long for someone to get this.

And to answer, no, Joffrey is a Yankees fan. YES only.

I almost always listen to the other team's broadcast. That's how much a can't stand Thom and Chis. "Dumb and dumberer" IMO.

Haha! Some people just like to complain for the sake of complaining. The Reds TV broadcast is very good IMO and the stadium experience is excellent (took the fam there on Sunday for the 10-6 win over the Marlins).

All these people moaning and complaining reminds me of the people saying Dunn and Griffey were lazy. (Wait, that's me. Delete, delete. Prank caller, prank caller!)

Probably in Pawtucket as usual (Red Sox AAA squad).

Hoard is awful IMO. You could fall asleep listening to him after four cups of coffee. Calling him "vanilla" doesn't even do it justice. Jim Kelch is vanilla but is solid. Hoard is bad. The Bengals just can't find a good radio PBP man to save their life. What's funny is that even a non-Hoard fan like me thinks Hoard is way better than Brad Johansen was. That guy was by far the worst NFL PBP announcer. He was like the Corey Patterson/Willy Taveras of PBP announcers.

So, Whoard does have that going for him. He's better than Johanson for sure.

Thom has his downsides, but I like his calls on big plays or walkoffs. Chris Welsh is one of my favorites. He knows the game really well and has a cheesy/dorky sense of humor that fits well with the game, and his personality.

As far as the TV crew goes, the pregame show (Reds Live) is a little goofy, especially the game show they do with the wacky music. Other than that they do a pretty darn good job of televising a baseball game, and the highlights afterward.

I'd rather watch Reds Live than Sportscenter, that shows about 3 seconds of the game-winning hit or out, so they can move on to the Yankees.

I'm just glad I get the games. I don't like Kelch and his monotone sing-song delivery. Thom drives me nuts and Welsh is a chatterbox. Brantley is a great color announcer, but all is good. I like the fact that from 300 miles away I get to see the games. I guess it's just I remember Ed Kennedy and Frank McCormick as well as Dizzy Dean and Peewee Reese. You don't know what you missed. Really.

Scores are great, I could do without reading 300 times in a game that Rolando McClain was arrested.

The ticker would be fine if it was only baseball news. Couldn't care less about football, hockey or soccer while I am watching the Reds.

Re: Criticisms of Fox Sports Ohio Broadcasts

Though I think Thom Brennaman is rather insufferable, I would gladly take him over the abortion of a broadcast team the Cardinals have. Al Hrabosky is a disgrace to modern television and McLaughlin is as milk toast as it gets. It's no wonder why Fangraphs rated them near the bottom in their recent TV broadcasting rankings. It pretty much says it all right here:

    29. St. Louis Cardinals
Broadcasters: Dan McLaughlin, Al Hrabosky, and Rick Horton
    Ratings (Charisma/Analysis/Overall): 2.4, 2.1, 2.3

    Three Reader Comments
    • “I shouldn’t feel like sleeping when my favorite team is on TV.”
    • “Whenever possible, I try to play some sort of alternate broadcast while the regular TV broadcast is on mute.”
    • “Al Hrabosky… is the reason I am an alcoholic.”

    Notes
It appears, from the reader comments, that Dan McLaughlin is a passable play-by-play man for most FanGraphs readers, but that Hrabosky and Horton are difficult to enjoy.

Being the hockey nut that I am, I like that tickers cover other sports when watching a sporting event. Now that it's playoff time, I want to know what teams are in and what teams are out without switching the channel.
