I almost bought a Nehru jacket once. Instead, I bought a fringed leather vest.

    Peace.

Many times I would turn the radio to the station I would listen to Reds games and it would be silent except for the murmer in the crowd. I would wonder if this is the right station or not? Then I would hear Joe say, "That's a curve for a strike." All was well then.

    Yep, pondered going pro too.

Is there a reason why Marty Brennaman just doesn't do TV?

He has off and on at various times. Its probably more work than he wants to do.

There's less autonomy for TV announcers. They've always got a producer in one ear telling them what to do next. That's not an issue on the radio. You just follow the format and the log. I imagine Marty prefers the control that radio allows him.

The extent of my Nehru jacket knowledge comes from Barbie ripping up Ken's Nehru jacket in Toy Story 3.

I participated in most "hip" clothing styles (so I thought) of the 70's. Good and bad.

Cleaned out the basement last weekend and found my hippie army jacket. Upsidedown US flag on the back and a peace sign patch and one that said "bombing for peace is like ____ for virginity".

    My wife was appalled.

Here is how I rank the Red broadcasters:

    1. Marty Brennaman-Simply the best announcer in baseball. ATOBTTR is legendary and gives me goosebumps every time.

    2. Chris Welsh- Great technical guy and it is oh so funny when he puts Thom in his place

    3. Jeff Brantley-Though he sometimes forgets to tell me the score, he is definitely the most colorful personality they have. You can tell he is just loving life.

    4. Jim Kelch-Nothing bad at all about Kelch, just nothing great either. He is the perfect utility man.

    20. Thom Brennaman-Uuuugh! He is fun when the Reds win, but man what a drag all of the other times.

Do wanna sell that jacket? Because I would totally wear it out on the town.

    With Pride, not irony.

Joe understood that you didn't always have to fill every second with your voice. I wish more announcers understood this.
