    182:51

Just FYI, that is the Reds' staff strikeout:walk ratio right now (3.57).

The next closest in Major League Baseball, at least coming into this evening, was Kansas City at 3.27. Only a total of five other teams were above 3.0.

This is a really good pitching staff. I've said it before and I'll say it again, when Mike Leake is the worst of your problems pitching-wise, you're in really good shape. Most teams would kill to have Mike Leake at the end of their rotation. Many wouldn't mind having him in the middle.

Leading the majors in QS, moving up quickly for most K's.

The weaknesses of this team? Better look really, really hard to find them....they are few and far between.

That stat has become the defining mark for what the Reds are doing in terms of pitching. The team buy-in on K/BB is unmistakable.

Amazing the difference between a bad plan and a good plan.

It all seems so easy now - a club run by competent people pulling in the same direction. It sure beats the years when we congregated here to sort through the latest variation of "Why do they keep doing stupid things?"

weakness on the team is still the inconsistency of the offense

Beats the hell out of teams that had weaknesses like Jimmy Haynes, Osvaldo Fernandez, Joey Hamilton, Lance Davis, Brian Reith, Jose Acevedo and Dave Williams.

Give me guys who miss bats and don't issue walks, and I'll take my chances with an offense that is capable of exploding for double digits on any given day.

Offense is fine as long as we continue to pitch well.

It just strikes me as odd that anyone would truly call it a "weakness" when the team literally leads the majors in runs scored.

They're averaging 5.6 runs per game. Even if those runs aren't ideally distributed, they're still coming in more than anyone else is getting them.

I sense you're going to irritate a lot of folks on here by the time the season is over with.

For me, the offense is a concern but so long as they're able to score at least one more run than the opposing team, I'm a happy camper.

The pitching has been amazing. You really can't say enough about the job they have done!

And offense a concern? It leads the league in RS and OBP, and the two biggest power threats haven't hit for much power yet. Not to mention they lost their projected cleanup hitter... I don't think there is very many negative things that could be said about the bats at this point in the season.
