Dusty still wanted to win the game. But he wasn't going to put in Chapman unless he absolutely had to do so. He opted not to do so.

Also, warming up and throwing in a game situation are two very different types of stresses on an arm.

Baker will spot him. Eh, once every 5-6 games.

He said it himself yesterday: he can't start Heisey all the time.

I'm a patient man but I don't want to see para anymore. And get Paul some starts against right handers. Should have won tonight.

Ridiculous when the umps don't give you a chance by calling it correct.
I hate when umps sit between catcher and batter.

Dusty's hand got forced by extras tonight and he had to overuse Parra. I'm sure Baker wasn't happy either.

I think Parra will be in AAA very soon.

Arredondo's done a decent job for this team the last few years. I know you want that extra left hander out there but keeping Para over him was a big mistake.

Well crap. But I can stomach a loss to the Cubs better than one to the Cardinals. The boys will come back and win the series tomorrow. And the Nats will get their heads outta their fannies and punt the Cardinals out of town tomorrow.

One thing that The Cowboy has said about Parra more than once this season is that his pitching results don't match up with his talent. He says he has good stuff but has struggled to consistently get major league hitters out throughout his career.

    My observations.

Does Heisey know how to ever go to RF? He pulled a pitch so far outside to ground out and I just never see this guy try to go the other way.

The offense is smelling like 2011 again. We all had complaints on how the offense would score a bunch and then disappear in 2011. The difference is the pitching is much better....so that will save them on most nights.

If Votto lays off that last pitch...I wonder if Ump Magoo calls it a strike anyways?

So, basically, that's equivalent to saying he's got minor league talent. Spot on.

The Cubs starting pitching is a strength at this stage. I would say that is the biggest cause of the disappearing offense. The v.2011 and v. 2013 offense are very different in their makeup, so probably not a good comparison at this stage of the season.
