So do you keep him when Marshall comes back?

A tired [INSERT PITCHER HERE] is better than a fresh Parra.

Sure they used the bullpen a lot last night, but this was a tie game. Who knows, maybe Latos pitches a CG tomorrow and the bullpen gets their rest then. I've never been a fan of resting guys in the hope of winning one later.
Yes that was a very impressive infield single. I thought for a second it was leaving the yard. - texasdave 10/13/12

If we can't face Marmol again, Kevin Gregg isn't a bad 2nd option.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

No, you have to give yourself the best chance to win the most games over 162 games.

It's not the last game of the world series.

    The Cubs' bullpen does suck.

Simply put, if the Reds lose this game, Dusty Baker gets about -0.5 WAR.
No, you have to do what gives you the chance to win the most games over the course of a long 162-game season.

When you ran a mile in high school, did you run the whole mile as fast as you can or did you pace yourself to give yourself the best chance of the best time over the course of the mile? You probably paced yourself, right? Because most people can't sprint the whole mile. Baseball is like a mile, or rather a marathon. You can't sprint the whole way. Sometimes you have to decrease your odds in one game to give yourself a chance to win more games in the whole.

If you use your best arms every night, they'll wear out and you'll lose a lot more later in the year. You can't pitch every game like it's the 7th of a World Series.

Btw, the Cubs version of Parra is on the mound. No reason why this team can't get something going.

Yep. I bet we see Arredondo up pretty soon. Although Villareal would probably be a better choice IMO.

He won't be 100% fine if you use him every night where a high leverage situation comes up.
