We should be fine with more money and more Mike Leake.

Compare that small sample size to Strausburg, Cain, Lincecum, Wainwright, Cueto, and the other pelethora of aces out there..and you will notice that excellence doesn't start from nowhere.

So the excuse for his first two successes was that that the Marlins and Cubs are awful...what is the excuse for his success against the Nats today?

Re: Cingrani for Cy Young/Rookie of the Year?

Come on...seriously getting carried away...let him face teams a second and third time and see if he adapts and succeeds this well after teams have seen and developed plans for facing him...I personally think he is legit but a whole lot of succeeding in the majors is about adapting and polishing or hiding your weaknesses. Teams will study him, look for chinks and ways to make him beat himself. He is certainly smart enough to adapt. to the adaptations which is why I think he'll br an ace someday soon...but he defibitely will have struggles and tough outings too...that's when we see how hr rebounds and adapts. That is why its fun to envision ROY /CY but its way too soon in reality. One thing however. No obe can say he hasn't faced AND dominated a good lineup now. The Nats ain't the Cubbies or Fish!

    Re: Tony Cingrani Thread

So let me get this straight: The Reds have two incredible left-handed arms that have proven they can dominate major league hitters. And there are people on this board that don't want EITHER of them in the major league rotation?

That makes a ton of sense.

IF he continues to pitch the way he has, there is no way you can send him to AAA when Cueto comes back. Send him down later in the year or disable him to save innings/potential money but he's too good to be in Louisville as it is.

I ask you all, who do you want toeing it up every fifth day this kid or Leake?

A lot of middling pitchers have started out with excellent starts too.

Look, Cingrani has pitched excellent and likely has a good future.

    But CYA?

Manny Parra needs to be the one to go from the 'pen and Leake can be stashed in AAA.
Mike Leake can refuse assignment at this point in his career, and he would, so sending him down is not an option that the Reds are going to take because someone would pick him up rather quickly and the Reds would lose him.
