Latos has now started 38 games as a Red ...

... and has only four losses. That trade is working out pretty well.

Also, team is 26-12 (.684) when he starts.

Pitchers wins and losses mean basically nothing to me, but I'll admit that is pretty cool.

OTOH, Edinson Volquez' team is 14-18 when he pitches and has walked 115 batters in 36 starts. Quite a difference. This year, he's 0-3 with the team being 0-4 and he has an 8.84 ERA (I know--small sample size). It's fairly easy to see that this was a tremendous trade for Walt Jockety!

If April is his bad month, the N.L. is in for a lot of trouble in 2013.

Agreed! Along with several other moves he's made to build this team.

At the time of the trade, there were only a handful of pitchers I would have preferred over Latos. He's an amazing combination of talent, age, and salary.

Might be one of the best two way trades ever made...

And 2 of them came in his first 3 starts with the Reds, where he has admitted he was trying too hard to impress the fans and Reds management after the big trade.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

when he doesn't lose his cool you could argue he's our best pitcher.
there's nothing like bowling a 300 game! 13 now and retired.

Ricky henderson has a higher OBP than C. patterson and he's retired. C. Trent 6-14-2008

    Exactly what I was thinking.

Meanwhile Grandal sits out 50 games and Boxberger 2 years later still likely wouldnt be in our bullpen.
(Referring to Jack Hannahan signing with a Korean team)
Since there are no teams on the moon, I guess South Korea's far enough from Cincinnati to satisfy me.

Same for Homer too. They're both throwing up ace numbers in April and historically get stronger as the year goes on.
