Reds disable Manny Parra, reinstate Sean Marshall

Per several tweets. (Reds own twitter, plus C.Trent.) (ctrent ‏@ctrent Between the time the Reds closed the clubhouse and I came upstairs, they activated Sean Marshall and DL'd Manny Parra, according to @Reds)

This seems more than a little convenient, that one left hander goes down 'disabled' the same day another is ready to come back up...

I believe the actual diagnosis was acute suckiness.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Some of these predictable responses feel like piling on in the excessive criticism realm. That said, I can't help but chuckle at them.

That's not fair. The man did his best, and frankly he didn't pitch all that badly....okay, just kidding. Sayonara Manny Parra, may we see you again only if you're pitching for someone else.

Never understood signing him in the first place. I never thought he was any good.

"Strained left pectoral muscle"? I looked it up on WedMD. Apparently, you can get that from throwing too many meatballs.

I think that in a year or two, one of these guys - Frazier, Dorn, Valaika, Cumberland, Stubbs - will be ready to replace Dunn. They won't hit as many home runs as Dunn, but they should have similar OPS. - 757690, July 22, 2008

Alonso will be playing 1B for the REDS and batting 4th one year from today. - Kingspoint, July 9, 2009

Ha, I was hoping they would "invent" an injury for Parra. LMAO.

    Reds disable Manny Parra
Something about the predicate in that sentence sounds ominous.

He was injured when management physically pulled him out of the dugout by his left arm.

I think he has a crippling case of mediocrity.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

hope it's the 60 day DL. 15 days isn't long enough.

I had visions of Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan.
