I'm not advocating it, but why not?

Less starts for Latos/Bailey/Cueto. I'm officially on the Leake to the bullpen bandwagon. At least until Cingrani has his first rough outing. Then I will be telling everyone who listens that I never thought he should have been a permament fixture in the rotation.

I'm fully aware of the prisoner-of-the-moment mentality, and am guilty of it myself at times, but I can't see pulling him out of the rotation unless he suddenly hits the skids.

I think when Baker pulled Leake after 3 innings yesterday he was sending a message to him "you need to be more consistent". Unless Leake shows more consistency, I wouldn't be surprised to see him sent down when Cueto comes back.

I don't see Leake going to the bullpen, he was terrible in a pen stint a few years ago.

cingrani won't stay up for the same reason they won't move chapman to the rotation: larosas would lose too much money on free pizzas

But more rest and heightened durability for them perhaps.

The 5-man rotation is a standard practice held by years of experience and study. It's believed that five days is the ideal amount of rest for a starting pitcher's arm. That, and guys are use to pitching every 5/6 days. So you don't want to mess up their tuning/routine.

Leake can't be sent down unless he agrees to it, and I don't see that happening.
