Maybe baseball needs a shot clock. Don't the rules say no more than 20 seconds between pitches?

How long until Hamilton is ready for CF? His bat can't be much worse than what we're seeing in left field right now, and Choo's glove looks much better over there.

I agree with you about the scoring...but that wasn't an easy play FOR CHOO. For Bruce it would've been an easy play IMO.
    2014 predictions:
99-63 WS champs (Cards take 2nd WC, Mil 3rd, Pit 4th, Chi 5th)
Bruce/Votto neck and neck MVP race (neither takes it)
    Bailey CYA winner
    Hamilton ROY & GG

    5-2 Reds. Ruled a double.
Yea, that was an easy catch for Jay. I know about the CF is always in charge, but Jay has to aggressively call him off. IMO

Yep. Jay did the right thing though. If the CF'er calls for it, he's supposed to back him up.

Phillips up against Mattheus who's still in.

    Yes.

The Nationals are a strange bunch. Even their fans didn't believe they'd lose this year. You'll get no calls from that scorer. He's been doing it all year.

Lets hope Chapman has it today. I'm still not comfortable with only a 3 run lead. It should be at least 7-1 now.

No one said it was an easy play. Too often I see this in MLB. It's like the official scorer forgets it's MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL and not high school (or Little League). High standards should apply, ya know? If an OF gets there in plenty of time, even if they have to try and make a sliding catch, and they drop the ball, that's an error. It shouldn't even be debatable.

And as anyone who has played OF will tell you, making a sliding catch in the OF is not very hard. It's not extremely easy, but it's not hard by any means. That should have been an error on Choo (although that's the last thing he needed ... ha).

Well, when you say a "beer league softball" outfielder would've had it...I took that to mean you thought it was an easy play.

And yes, it should've been an error.
