Because he is the hottest hitting card right now, and the worst player in the NL since Rick Ankiel and Chris Duncan Wiggington has to get some playing time.

I predict he will go 0 for however many ABs. Matheny figures that Waino will need NO runs to win the game!

Oh, it's good Honey. The Cards have a trend going where they play awful players, going back to Joe Thurston, Khalil greene, Brendon Ryan, M. Ciaro, Dunkiel and others that don't come quickly to mind. Tonite it's the Wiggy guy. They gave this man a large contract for no CONCIEVABLE reason. So he must play! But in the 1st game of a REDS series??! OMFG!

Tony Cingrani on FSN just now. Seems a pretty likeable guy. Certainly hope we see more good things from him.

Doesn't Choo know not to swing on the 1st pitch?

Ugh. I don't know if I can watch this. Stuck with the Cards announcers and already they're going on and on about Wainwright's complete game shutouts... Please Jobu do not make tonight #5.....
