Really miss Sparky. He was a 40s mindset guy managing in the 70s. Beautiful.

You look at some of these pitchers like Rosenthal and Chapman and you wonder about the future of this game.

There may reach a point where pitching is not hittable. The Reds had no chance that 9th inning.

Did I see correct that the Reds haven't had a base runner since the 4th?
Yes that was a very impressive infield single. I thought for a second it was leaving the yard. - texasdave 10/13/12

It's possible. If that happens they will certainly flatten the mound and/or move back the rubber.

I liked Sparky too. Tons. But he's gotten put up on a pedestal here...not everything he did was rainbows and kittens. Those early hooks didn't always work out like we seem to want to remember. Dusty sticking with guys may frustrate fans...but over the course of a long season...that extra confidence does wonders for young players...or old ones for that matter.
    2014 predictions:
99-63 WS champs (Cards take 2nd WC, Mil 3rd, Pit 4th, Chi 5th)
Bruce/Votto neck and neck MVP race (neither takes it)
    Bailey CYA winner
    Hamilton ROY & GG
