Minor League Player of the Month - April

April is in the books. And despite a sluggish start by many; there were some bright spots among the position players.

Vote early and often. Write-ins always welcome.

The poll title should read Reds' Minor League Player for April. Oops.

Tough call. For most of the month, I'd been thinking that Barnhart was very impressive. But he seems to have faded. Soto's numbers look good, but they're for a limited period (he started the season on the DL).

So I think, for me, it'll come down to Juan Perez, Yorman, or Winker. Perez and Winker finished the month very strong. That said, it would seem kind of sad to pick a Player of the Month who batted below .300. I know that sounds like an old-school hangup; but really.

I am pretty sure the only two minor league regulars were Perez and Soto. The sticks got off to a poor start in April. Although lately they have seemed to be picking up the pace. Cover your eyes, Mace. Let's hope April 0'fers bring May gophers. LOL.
I haven't decided yet but I am leaning towards Juan Perez since he plays shortstop and Soto plays DH. Barnhart's bat is not up there with the others but it is rumored he handles the catching position pretty well.

Yeah, I guess Soto's plate appearances aren't as lacking as I'd thought. He's at 72. The Louisville regulars are around the 90-100 range.

Giving a guy some props because if he can keep his numbers where they are he is a sorely needed asset I vote for Tucker Barnhart. Ready defensively his bat has kept his balloon from floating but if keeps getting on and showing a of pop he will wear the Reds uni as Mesaraco's backup someday...and a better one than most people suspect. No not a star or even a regular but backup catching of decent quality is invaluable in its own right. Plus its cheap when homegrown.

I went with Winker, but it was close between he and Rodriguez given that Rodriguez is playing center. Along with Soto, they are 1-2-3 in the organization in OPS.

Soto with a late surge gets my vote. Bakersfield power seems cheap so J. Perez, Silva and Y-Rod would need to be well ahead of the others OPS wise though I'm encouraged by all of them. Winker was second with Felix Perez third.
