Twice today he's hit into a 5-4-3 DP.
This is the ol Left Hander rounding third and heading for home.

Actually, Philliips has been slumping on this road trip. But overall he's had a fine year, guys will cool off in the normal course.

Frazier doesn't get a lot of criticism, he's slumped too lately.

Seems Frazier has hit into a bunch of DPs lately.
Yes that was a very impressive infield single. I thought for a second it was leaving the yard. - texasdave 10/13/12

Cards breathe a sigh of relief, they got Lutz out didn't have to face Corky Miller.

    Your 2013 Cincinnati Reds.

    Has he? I hadn't noticed.

It seems like ThrowBat hasn't gotten a hit since the homer off Samardzija.

I forgot the game was this afternoon. Been busy all day.

    Glad I forgot.

We're assuming Jacoby isn't working. A hitting coach can only do so much, the hitters have to heed his advice and put it into practice correctly. If it's bad advice...time to ditch him. But I don't know one way or the other.

And all players go into slumps, regardless of the hitting coach. Add in the fact that we've been facing ace after freaking ace...it only exacerbates the situation. The people here have been kinda quick to dismiss the pitching we've been facing. Great pitching combined with a slumping hitter equals a hitter looking REEEEEEEEEEALLY bad. Get 2 or 3 guys doing that at once...you get a team that can't score a run because any kind of rally gets busted quickly.

So I'm not so quick to point fingers quite yet.

This team is going nowhere unless changes are made. Bottom line is will Bob C. and Walt J.
do anything or say we can't afford it?

    We're still bad.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

    What changes would you suggest?

Well, that makes two runs or less in 8 of the last 9 games, and 13 times in 29 games overall.

On April 8th, we scored 9 runs in the 9th inning against STL. Since then, we have scored a total of 6 runs in 45 innings against them, including just one off their bullpen (which is one of the worst in the league against everyone else).

They finally broke through against the bullpen - BP homered off Mujica today.

Still pretty dreadful against one of the worst pens in the NL.

The two best starting staffs have been dealing and the bats on both teams are scuffling. I think "fire Dusty and the hitting coach" should extend to "fire Matheny and the hitting coach," right?
    Actually, wrong.

We are Reds' fans. If the Cardinals have a crappy manager and a crappy hitting coach that is good for us. We want St. Louis to extend their contracts.
