I wonder what it would take to pry DeJesus away from Chicago? He would be much better than the current options and when Ludwick comes back would create a heck of a LF platoon and a good bench.

You can get a DeJesus, maybe, at the deadline when the Cubs are getting ready for 2014.
Right now, it would take real prospects in exchange.
I think for now you live with Xavier Paul and his .375 OBP in limited at bats. His defense isn't very good, but he gets on base against RHP.
Agreed. I'm not into giving up real prospects for what amount to a minor fix. I think it's best to stand pat and see how Ludwick progresses.
Hopefully Bruce figures it out soon and Heisey/Paul do enough to get by. DeJesus or Venable at the deadline would be a nice complement for the stretch run and as next year's 3/4th outfielder. Makes a lot of sense.
It is on the whole probable that we continually dream, but that consciousness makes such a noise that we do not hear it. Carl Jung.
I think Walt has been looking at possible deals since Ludwick went down. The question is, when will the right deal open up. I hope it happens soon.

Is Grady Sizemore on a roster? Would he be worth a flyer?
When I see the 2016 Reds, I see a 100 loss team and no direction.
I think you've got to go big or don't go at all. Stanton, Headley, etc.

Not sure I really understand the go big stance. The Reds have built a team that is a world series contender. Going big may upgrade LF, but it would likely create multiple holes on the depth chart in the rotation and at other spots.
There are plenty of role player types who have already been discussed in this thread (Denorfia, Dejesus, Venable, one of the A's or D-Backs guys, etc,) who could probably be had later in the year without gutting anything. A couple of interesting prospects and I'd think they could get an upgrade. They just aren't going to get anyone before mid-June, but when they can, I'm not in favor of dealing off anyone important to make it happen. The Reds need to add to what they have, not swap one problem for another.
For now, I think Donald Lutz might be a guy who should get a long look. I don't think he's ready, but he seems to be heating up. Ride him for a while.

All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!
Agree. What to do with left field right now is get Donald Lutz more playing time and see how it plays out.
Lutz and Paul are both playing well, though I worry that neither can hit lefties at a decent clip.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”
True and Choo struggles against LHP as well. Hesiey should be his caddy when he comes back and I really wish they'd give Mesoraco an OF glove and let he and Lutz platoon in LF. Letting him platoon in LF while catching 40% of the time get's his bat in there.
If the League catches up to Lutz (and I think he'll cool at some point) time to go to Paul and maybe Felix Perez. All the decent candidates seem to hit lefty. All the more reason to get Mes into the mix IMO.

Lutz is going back to AA as soon as Heisey is ready. Xavier Paul seems to be hitting good enough. Felix Perez is hitting well in AAA, but he is another lefty, so that probably doesn't help his chances in the slightest.
