Nothing to do with this debate, but nice to see Joey's HOF chances spoken well of.

Joey Votto’s had a pretty phenomenal run dating back to 2009, but he doesn’t seem like a good bet to accumulate traditional HOF counting stats given his fairly late start. How many more seasons does he need to keep up this level of performance before he’s got your vote-assuming he’s on a ballot when you get your first chance?

I read again today that Paul Daugherty is at Votto again for not driving in enough runs, as if it is something that you can control. Actually, he did not mention Votto by name, but referred to "a 3 hole hitter is someone who should drive in runs."

For Votto's career so far, with RISP, he is .352/.483/.614, for an OPS of 1.096 (with 37 HR) That's the definition of clutch to me, a guy who is better with RISP than otherwise.

Look, I'm a 52 yo dinosaur like Daugherty. Is it so hard to figure out that you cannot drive in runs if guys are not on base when you're up? That he's actually doing a better job with runners at 2nd and 3rd than nearly anyone else in the league?
