Nice informative post, great stuff
What I like about this thread is that, in no way could it have fit nicely at the end of today's game thread. It needed to be on its own
Geez, try a little humor and see where it gets ya. Tough crowd.

This thread can be salvaged. Does anyone see JJ Hoover as a future closer?
Opinions are like belly buttons. Everybody has one, and they don't want someone else's shoved into their face.
There's no doubt Hoover has good stuff, I don't know about closer though... yet.
What I did like was Dusty's decision to get Chapman out of there today. He clearly didn't have it, and Hoover was a good choice. He's got strikeout stuff and we needed an out in the worst way.
It's really irrelevant to me if Hoover becomes a closer.
What's critical is that now that he's on track, JJ gives the Reds a good stable of pitchers for the late innings.
Assuming Chapman is out tomorrow (likely), Reds still now probably have Marshall, Broxton, and Hoover all available. Ondrusek is rested, he's been ok lately, he's another backup.
That's what a team needs, it can't be too dependent on one or two late inning relievers.
Hoover adds much to this bullpen.
Success as a closer seems more about attitude then stuff. There's a certain mentality closers seem to share. Intense and fearless. Does JJ seem that way?
My son (Patrick Bateman) was joking with me after the game that someone would start a thread about this very topic.
It's hard to believe that something so preposterous actually came true.
What could we get in trade for Chapman?
